AI Agent Fleet: Core Development Roles & Responsibilities

This document defines the specialized roles within an autonomous AI agent fleet structured to mirror a high-performing, agile software development team.

๐Ÿ’ก Product & Planningโ€‹

1. Product Owner Agentโ€‹

  • Objective: Translate high-level human ideas into concrete, actionable product requirements.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Gathers and refines user goals.
    • Authors comprehensive user stories and functional requirements.
    • Manages and prioritizes the product backlog.
    • Determines what features to build next based on business value.

2. Senior Software Architect Agentโ€‹

  • Objective: Define system structures, technical specifications, and cross-agent communication contracts.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Designs high-level system architecture, data models, and component boundaries.
    • Breaks down product requirements into discrete technical specifications.
    • Conducts architectural risk mitigation and sanity checks.
    • Outlines exact API contracts and data schemas for downstream execution agents.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ Execution & Constructionโ€‹

3. Software Engineer / Coder Agentโ€‹

  • Objective: Consume technical specifications to write high-quality production code.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Implements application logic, user interfaces, and database queries.
    • Adheres strictly to the architectural specifications and design contracts.
    • Documents written code inline and updates necessary readme configurations.
    • Often specialized by technology stack (e.g., Frontend React Agent, Backend Python Agent).

4. Code Reviewer / Refactoring Agentโ€‹

  • Objective: Enforce code quality, formatting guidelines, and architectural compliance.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Reviews raw code produced by the Coder Agent.
    • Identifies anti-patterns, technical debt, and performance bottlenecks.
    • Recommends precise code optimizations and refactoring steps.
    • Acts as a quality gatekeeper before code is passed to staging or testing.

๐Ÿ” Quality & Stabilityโ€‹

5. QA / Test Engineer Agentโ€‹

  • Objective: Ensure application stability and prevent regressions through automated testing.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Automatically generates comprehensive unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
    • Executes test suites against codebase branches.
    • Captures, formats, and routes deterministic failure logs back to the Coder Agent for debugging.
    • Validates code against the Architect's initial acceptance criteria.

6. Security Auditor Agentโ€‹

  • Objective: Protect the application and fleet from vulnerabilities and compliance issues.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Scans code repositories for exposed secrets, API keys, and hardcoded credentials.
    • Analyzes third-party dependency trees for known open-source vulnerabilities.
    • Audits data ingestion and transmission paths against standard security protocols (e.g., OWASP Top 10).

๐Ÿš€ Operations & Orchestrationโ€‹

7. DevOps / CI-CD Agentโ€‹

  • Objective: Automate environment provisioning, containerization, and code deployment pipelines.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Generates and manages containerization files (e.g., Dockerfiles, docker-compose).
    • Configures continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines.
    • Handles environment variables and manages cloud infrastructure configurations.

8. Fleet Orchestrator / Manager Agentโ€‹

  • Objective: Serve as the centralized coordination layer governing the entire fleet lifecycle.
  • Responsibilities:
    • Monitors global system state and manages the flow of context/memory between sub-agents.
    • Dynamically provisions, schedules, and assigns tasks to specialized agents.
    • Captures and handles unhandled exceptions or loop conditions across the multi-agent system.
